These boards aren't for everyone, but if you're considering a split board, you're in the right place. I've had a fantastic experience with keyboardhoarders and their creation, so treat yourself or a loved one and get one.
I contacted the company via the contact button with questions about the board, tenting, and color customization. They responded within minutes, addressing all my concerns and assuring me that the customization was possible. This gave me the confidence to order the keyboard. After ordering the keyboard, they then said that it would be shipped the next business day. Amazing experience.
True to form, the package shipped on time and arrived three days later, it arrived securely in a well-packed box. Upon opening it, I was impressed by the solid feel of the keyboard, tenting and nice baggy of extra caps.
Having used keyboards extensively for many years and owned numerous boards, including ergonomic models, I can confidently say that using this keyboard feels truly wonderful, regardless of the time spent on it.
The keyboard case feels and appears to be extremely well-built, and once plugged in, it came to life with a soft, pleasant glow from switch LEDs.( One minor thing is that color choice for the USB C cable to connect to my PC wasn't the best. Being while with all black system it looked a out of place, so I quickly swapped it for a black braided cable I had and it really finished the look.)
Switching from a standard full-sized staggered keyboard, the new one definitely felt a little strange at first. However, with some practice, I've become very comfortable and really enjoy using the keyboard's feel.I still have some customizing to decide, but with app it's all done with a few clicks.
I opted for the tactile Silent Banana key switches, which were perfect for the meetings I attend. While they require a bit less force to click than I'm accustomed, however they provide a very comfortable typing experience. The tactile bump is immediate and barely noticeable, and initially, while typing as I would on my older keyboard with heavy hands, it was practically imperceptible. However, with a bit of practice and some regular typing, I've already noticed that I'm using less force and that the tactile feedback is becoming a very welcome noticeable feeling change. Nicel, if I later decide that I want a different feel I can easily pull and replace with a different set until I find the exact feelingnand sound profile I want.
The magnetic tent does also help with the position and posture. They hold the boards exactly where I set in place and perfectly stable. While I might recommend placing ring a bit closer to thumb side than center to better handle the large forces thumbs apply but even centered I don't think this morning unless you move it.
Lastly, the little eastern eggs and odd key caps; a suit glasses and others have added a bit of fun to the board. After showing co-workers and hearing me talk so highly about my fun using the keyboard I suspect, a few are already thinking of getting their own keyboard hoarder creation.
If these sound interesting to you, I'd definitely encourage you to give them a try. Based on my own experience, the company is truly fantastic, with a an amazing board and a wonderful team.
